Sound Branding for Alternative Berlin Tours

Here is my final sound branding for Alternative Berlin Tours, the hottest provider of alternative city tours through Germany ‘s capital, including the voice of Santiago Ziesmer (Spongebob Squarepants, Jaleel White aka Steve Urkel, Steve Buscemi and many more), whom I met in a cool session at the WAVE AKADEMIE.

The feeling of a proud big city, colorful and diverse. Urban street art, authentic club culture and multicultural lifestyle. Activating with a good mood factor. That was my idea and I realized it.

I thank all those involved for the excellent collaboration and am pleased to find my audio elements on the successful website of the provider. If you want to get to know Berlin’s real face, far away from the usual city tours, you should definitely stop by at Alternative Berlin Tours.

DIY 8D audio with AMBEO

It seems to be just a new hype. And it actually works somehow. Despite a simple stereo channel (preferably headphones) it is possible to give the impression that a sound source is moving around the head. There are already countless videos on Youtube.

You can create this effect yourself by downloading the free AMBEO Plugin by Sennheiser. I’ve tested it and I have to say it’s cool to experiment with it. Especially for the editing of radio plays this should be interesting.

“Currywurst Cowboy” Film shooting

On the first weekend in October (2018), we shot the short film “Currywurst Cowboy” by Christian Scheffer (a very committed, worldly-wise and easygoing person who attends the film class at WAVE AKADEMIE) at Rosenthaler Platz here in Berlin in Curry Mitte and surroundings. Felix Hirte and I were on site as a sound department, where I was working as boom-operator. Currently, several people are working on the music, including me. I’m curious like a flying bow, which music will be heard in the finished film. In general, I’m looking forward to the final result. Here is the Facebook post of the WAVE AKADEMIE with my photos.

PS: If you are curving around Berlin, have a look at the Curry Berlin diner for some delicious Berlin street food.

Soundbranding: midterm exam at Pfefferberg

On 04. October .2018 I had my presentation for our intermediate exam at Pfefferberg, Haus 13. Despite the excitement, I had a lot of fun on stage presenting my final sound branding project to the audience. So much positive feedback, I was really happy.

Thank you all for coming. Thanks to my family for the support. Cheers to my colleagues who also had very cool results. And thanks to all the people at WAVE AKADEMIE for you have always taken so much care of us all and brought us so far.

I am looking forward to staying in contact with the project client Alternative Berlin Tours. Let’s go to the second half of the education!

Color Correction/Grading “7 Minuten im Himmel”

For the short film 7 Minuten im Himmel, for which I had already caught the sound, I have now also made the color correction. At the same time I was able to familiarize myself with DaVinci Resolve and I have to say I really like the software. It was fun.

With the kind support of Monica Tedja (director) and Jana Pape (director of photography), who actively helped me during their visit at my studio, as well as Anastasya Stolyarov (editor), with whom I had the data exchange , Thanks also to Katja Straub and Torsten Löhn for the great contact.

Film shoots: “I Will Always Love (E)U” & “Tag der Deutschen Einheit”

I had very pleasant shooting days as a boom operator for two really crazy short films. Only a few weeks ago by the dffb in cooperation with the RBB (final title “I Will Always Love (E)U“, fka “Crystal Beth”) and now with a team of the Filmarche (“Tag der Einheit” (= Day of Unity)), with whom I am just spent two full nights filmed. Thank you for the great cooperation. You have my praise. As well as the great actors and of course my sound colleagues. I am very excited about the results and look forward to new joint projects.
